We're in Aspen! We left Manhattan this morning around 9am and set off west on the I-70. Managed to cover just under 700 miles between then and 9pm including a few stops on the way. All in all a decent days driving!
Playing navigator for the day I decided to take a slightly longer route right through the middle of the rockies. As we were on that road heading west by Denver we noticed that Aspen wasn't actually to far out the way enroute to Salt Lake City (Our first waypoint on the way to Vancouver). Me and Stu both wanted to go and Iain was asleep so that was that! Once off the main Interstate the road started to climb and wind, snaking through the massive mountains and forests, much to the delight of Stu.
Heres some pictures from the journey:
Go straight for 340 miles and keep going.... The distance on the right was the distance to Vancouver.
This is actually a still from a video of me taking the mick out of Iain for sleeping the trip away :)
From the top of Independence Pass we drove on for another hour or so and got to Aspen! We took a quick drive around then found a hotel/hostel place that was only $100 for a room for the night! Not bad considering they have free WiFi and a pool in the complex :) Got settled and went out for some Mexican and a few games of pool.
Anyway, we're going to head to Salt Lake City tomorrow and spend an hour or so there taking in the sights then its onto Vancouver!
Later.
