"Only In America"

Hi. I'll be using this to keep a record of my travels of the USA and to share some stories and pictures from "the road" with anyone whose interested. I'd tried to think of a really quirky and interesting name for It but its nigh on impossible compared to Marks. Thanks for setting such a high bar!

For those of you who dont know Im leaving in just over a day (15th July) to travel across america for 3 months with a couple of friends. Im sure its going to be an interesting if not challenging few months out there with plenty of stories and pictures to share.

The current plan is to fly from Glasgow to New York City via Dublin where we've got a few nights booked in a hostel just off central park. From there we catch a train up to a place called poughkeepsie in north New York state where we'll meet some friends Iain met in Prague during his 5th year of Uni. Then its onto Boston, Chicago, Vancouver and a whole host of other well known towns and cities with a few more less well known ones chucked in for good measure.

Other than "visiting" these places what else do we have planned? To be honest I don't really know and I think that's perhaps the most exciting aspect of this trip. The potential for this to turn into an unmitigated disaster, while comical, is very real. There's a whole host of things that could and most likely will go wrong but I suppose that's what traveling is all about.

Still got plenty of stuff I should be sorting out so I better move. Next time I post will likely be from somewhere in NYC :D
